 General Information for 'Beo-Cruentus Wolves'
« Thread Started on Jul 16, 2006, 9:56pm »

General
The ancestors of this creature are unclear, though it is believed to be directly decended from the 'Miacis', the long forgotten ancestor of wolves, hyenas, bears and felines.
The Beo-Cruentus Wolf is not a true wolf, nor is it a true canine. The body build of these creatures are similar to a wolf, at a glance; however, Cruentus (also called Beo Wolves, or a combination of any three of the words) seem to relate more to big cats in terms of the skeleton and noises. Beo Wolves are very flexible, like the cat, and has the endurance of the canine.
The Beo Wolf can breed with wolves and large dogs. There have been a few successful attempts at a Beo Wolf-Panther hybrid, and only one of these were fertile.
The tongue of a Beo-Wolf is like that of a feline so they will be able to get more meat from bones. Both sexes' claws are partially retractable.
When the Beo-Wolf is fully grown, it stands just over three and a half feet at the shoulder. The males are usually taller than females; though the females of the species have denser fur. The females are overall smaller. The length of the tail is about three-fourths the length of the body, and it, too, is very dense. In the wild, these animals usually stay in cool climates because of their thick fur, and run in packs, similar to wolves. In the wild, however, it is usually a female that dominates over the pack.
When whelps are born in the wild (The female comes into heat roughly three times a year, though her pups stay with her for nearly two years. Females are sexually mature at the age of two and a half; males are mature at two.) the whole of the pack helps much like a family would do.

Uses
This species has been tamed by humans to use in underground fights, much like thingy-fighting. Usually, warriors of this species have an ID tattooed onto them, most of the time on the inside of their leg. The ID tells who had the whelp at birth (usually a character, one/two letters or symbols), who trained it (a number), and the owner (also a number). If a trainer is also an owner, the numbers are different. ((Ex. Bella was born, raised, and trained by the same man; her ID is 'Z-7-13'.)) They're very easily trained and are sometimes kept as housepets, guard 'dogs', rescue 'dogs' and many other positions besides a fighter.
